A visit to South Africa would not be complete without a stop in Cape Town – the “Mother City”, known to many as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. An awesome 5 night extension that can be added on to any of the standard SA packages where you will get to experience Great White Shark Cage Diving, Penguins, Seal Diving & the scenic beauty that Cape Town has to offer. After an early breakfast, transfer to Gansbaai (approx. 2,5hr drive) for the Great White Shark Cage excursion. The road winds along the coast with spectacular views of False Bay and you will have the opportunity to stop off at Stony Point to the view the African Penguin colony.
On arrival in Gansbaai a light meal and refreshments will be served, where after a White Shark Marine Biologist will give a short talk on the research being done and what you can expect on your excursion. The crew on the boat attracts the sharks and keep them interested in the boat giving divers opportunities to view the sharks underwater while being protected in a steel cage. Light snacks and refreshments are provided on the boat. Drive back to Cape Town in the late afternoon.
After Breakfast, depart for a full day Cape Point tour.
The journey to Cape Point takes you along the scenic Atlantic seaboard coastal road. You pass the pristine beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay with their soft white sand and assure blue water. The formidable 12 Apostles Peaks rise above the road on one side, while sheer cliffs and incredible rock formations drop into the icy Atlantic Ocean on the other side. There is no doubt the coast of the Cape peninsula offers magnificent scenery with its great biodiversity.
You arrive at the quaint fishing village of Hout Bay with its imposing Sentinel. Visit Seal Island (own account) or shop for souvenirs at the craft market at the harbour.
The tour continues over Chapman’s Peak which offers amazing photo opportunities, and onto the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. This area is home to magnificent ‘fynbos’, many different species of buck and birds, the Cape Mountain Zebra, and mischievous baboons. These creatures entertain guests enjoying lunch at the restaurant which has splendid views of False Bay. Take the funicular (own account) to the lighthouse to see the meeting of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans at the Cape Point.
You visit Boulders Beach to see the Jackass penguins (own account) before arriving at the naval base of Simonstown, and then we venture inland to our last stop of the day at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. With the sun setting over the tall peaks of Table Mountain the last rays sparkle on the trees and flowers, and offer a fitting end to a day filled with all the Cape has to offer.
Check out of hotel and transfer back to the Airport for your flight home.
