Where is Galapagos?

The Galapagos Islands are located 1000km off the Ecuador coastline in the Pacific Ocean.

Tour Itinerary:

  • Baltra
    Guests fly to the Galapagos Islands from Mainland Ecuador, arriving in the late morning.  The dive guides will meet the guests at the airport and escort them to the Majestic Explorer. Guests will check in to the liveaboard, have lunch and welcome briefings before a check dive at Punta Carrion.   After dinner the vessel will depart.

  • Baltra North (2 Dives)
    Highlight:  Rays and Schools of Fish
    Afternoon North Seymour land visit. Walk the path around North Seymour Island to see the large colonies of Blue Footed Boobies and Frigate Birds.  Sightings of Sea Lions and Marine Iguanas are also common. 
    Depart for Western Islands (long transit)

  • Cabo Douglas & Punta Vicenta Roca
    Cabo Douglas Highlights:  Marine iguanas (2 Dives)
    Transit to Punta Vicente Roca
    Punta Vicenta Roca Highlights:  Mola Mola (2 Dives)

  • Wolf Island (4 Dives & possible night dive)
    Sightings often include hammerheads, , eagle rays, sea lions, Galapagos sharks and silky sharks.

  • Darwin Island (4 Dives)
    Sightings often include hammerheads, whale sharks (in season) eagle rays, Galapagos sharks and silky sharks.
    Transit to Wolf Island

  • Wolf Island (3 Dives)
    Sightings often include hammerheads, whale sharks (in season), eagle rays, Galapagos sharks and silky sharks.
    Long transit to Cousin’s Rock (20+ hours)

  • Cousin’s Rock
    (1 – 2 Dives: number of dives dependent on travel time from Wolf Island)
    This is a great macro diving with an excellent chance of seeing sea horses, sea lions and eagle rays. Lunch will be served while transiting to Santa Cruz (3 hours). Travel by bus to the Santa Cruz Highlands to visit the giant tortoises in their natural habitat. Transfer to the town of Puerto Ayora. Dinner on your own in Puerto Ayora. Return to the Majestic Explorer at 8:30pm.

  • Depart the vessel by 9 am. Transfer to the airport or extend your stay.

  • Island Hopping – 2 Islands, Isabela & Santa Cruz

    Itinerary:

    Saturday May 11 – Isabela

    Check out of Majestic Explorer at the Ithabaca canal and transfer to Puerto Ayora.  2 pm Boat transfer to Isabela Island.  On arrival transfer to hotel.

    Sunday May 12 – Isabela

    • Boat transfer to Los Tuneles (approx. 45-60 min.) Time of day depends on the tide.
    • Tour the interesting rock formations by boat to see blue-footed boobies, penguins, turtles. Enjoy the arches, overhangs and other unique topography of the this area
    • Optional snorkeling to sea seahorses, turtles
    • By most visitors to Isabela this is rated the best day tour – a “hidden gem”

    Monday May 13 – Isabela

    Option 1: Volcano Sierra Negra (8:00 AM – about 2pm) 

      Strenuous – hiking over uneven terrain

    • transportation to the highlands
    • three hour strenuous hike to the world’s second largest volcanic crater
    • on a clear day enjoy the view of the northern volcanoes of Isabela and Isla Fernandina from Volcan Chico
    • Hike back down to the bus

    OR

    Option 2: Bay tour to Tintoreras (08:00 AM – 3:00 PM depending on tide)  (can be done by boat or kayak)

    Easy to Moderate – even terrain

    • Small 4-6m, fishermen boats – maximum capacity varies
    • look for the small Galapagos penguins on the rocks or fishing
    • kayak with sea lions and sea turtles
    • visit a marine iguana colony and a sea lion colony near by

    Tuesday May 14 – Santa Cruz

    Free morning in Isabela to explore
    Transfer to Santa Cruz by boat 2:30 pm(2-2.5 hrs)
    Night in Santa Cruz

    Wednesday May 15

    Transfer to Baltra airport and fly out to mainland Ecuador
    Note: Isabela activities may be rearranged according to tour times and tides.
