Join Pro Dive on this exhilarating 12 Day Expedition where you will cover 2500 km from the Cape Town to Kwazulu Natal and have the chance to get up Close and Personal with at least 8 species of sharks . Possible shark species include the Great White Shark, Tiger Shark, Makos, Blue Shark, Seven Gill Shark, Ragged Tooth Shark, Oceanic Black Tip Shark, Bull Shark & more… You will also have the opportunity to explore Cape Town and spend 2 nights at one of South Africa’s most well known game reserves to experience the African Wildlife.
This unique itinerary will take you from the temperate cooler West coast to the warm tropical East coast of South Africa where you will experience a vast difference in climate, water temperature, culture and natural beauty. It is this diversity that creates the perfect habitat for such wide variety of shark and marine animal species. The tour starts in Cape Town, ” known to many as the most beautiful city in the world “, which is surrounded by rugged mountains and spectacular scenery. This is followed by a week in Scottburgh, a small coastal town situated 1600km from Cape Town and is known for its golden beaches and abundance of marine life. A perfect ending to your shark expedition is a short stay at Hluhluwe, Big 5 National Park in the heart of Zululand – where you will experience the wildlife and African Bush at its best.

Met on arrival and transferred to your hotel close to the Waterfront for a 5 night stay on a bed and breakfast basis. Dinner at the hotel or one of the popular restaurants in Cape Town.
After an early breakfast, transfer to Gansbaai (approx. 2,5hr drive) for the Great White Shark Cage excursion. The road winds along the coast with spectacular views of False Bay and you will have the opportunity to stop off at Stony Point to the view the African Penguin colony. On arrival in Gansbaai a light meal and refreshments will be served, whereafter a White Shark Marine Biologist will give a short talk on the research being done and what you can expect on your excursion. The crew on the boat attract the sharks and keep them interested in the boat giving divers opportunities to view the sharks underwater while being protected in a steel cage. Light snacks and refreshments are provided on the boat.
Drive back to Cape Town in the late afternoon.
After breakfast depart for Simonstown where you will embark on an ocean safari to see the Pelagic Mako and Blue Sharks that are found in the the warm clear waters off Cape Point. It is a full morning excursion and on route you will have the special opportunity to view Cape Point from the ocean. This is an exhilarating dive being surrounded by Blue sharks that interact and come close to divers. After returning to the harbour you will drive back to Cape Town in the late afternoon.
After breakfast depart for Simonstown for the Seven Gill and Seal Dives. Once kitted up, the boat will drop you off into the magical kelp forests close to the shore, at a depth of approximately 10m and it is here in the shallow water that one can find the Broadnose Seven Gill shark in their natural habitat. Other possible sightings included the shy sharks. The second dive will be close by at a seal colony where the seals are very playful and enjoy showing off their acrobatic skills in front of the divers. A visit to Cape Point Nature Reserve will precede the scenic drive via Chapman’s Peak to your hotel. This spectacular scenery, 200m drop off and high cliffs on either side will be a journey to remember.
This day there will be optional excursions which can include Table Mountain, wine tour, beach visit, shopping etc… Additional diving can also be arranged.
Transfer Day: Cape Town to Scottburgh. After breakfast, check out of your hotel and transfer to airport for a 2hour flight to Durban and a 1 hour bus transfer to Scottburgh. On arrival check into your hotel for a 5 night stay including breakfast. Dinner at hotel or local restaurant in the area.
There will be one reef dive and one baited shark dive at Aliwal Shoal, one of South Africa’s premier dive spots where sightings of Ragged Tooth sharks are common and the possibility of other large pelagics such as whale sharks, sea turtles, potato bass and numerous game fish can be seen. Extremely popular with divers is the baited shark dive where you will be surrounded by anything from 20 – 80 bold Oceanic Black Tip sharks and might even have other species such as Tiger or Bull sharks come close.
These three days will be spent on the world famous shark destination Protea Banks, which is approximatey 1 hour drive from Scottburgh. These dives will be a highlight with possible sightings of Tiger Sharks, Bull Sharks, Schooling Hammerheads etc.
After an early breakfast, you will head north on a 4-6 hour drive to Umfolozi – Hluhluwe Game Reserve. After a few days of spectacular diving the trip would not be complete without a stop at Hluhluwe, Big 5 National Park in the heart of Zululand. A perfect opportunity to experience the African Bush and Wildlife where three game drives and optional walking safaris can be done.
After breakfast check out of the park and depart for the airport for flight home.
