The Spice Island of Zanzibar – Still as beautiful as it ever was

Its lockdown and just like you we have been getting a serious case of cabin fever and yearn to return to one of our famous destinations around the world. And, like you we have a little more time on our hands, which at least means we can rummage through our archives and take a little trip down memory lane to Zanzibar November 2006.

We arrived at our destination off the coast of Tanzania on a pleasant and welcoming Saturday evening for a trip to remember.

Zanzibar combines ancient Islamic ruins, noble Arabic houses with miles of white sandy palm fringed beaches and coves, bustling shopping, local restaurants & night life. The ocean offers warm clear blue waters, excellent reefs for snorkelling and diving, fantastic deep-sea fishing, water sports and, of course, delicious fresh sea food. What’s not to like?!

Fun fact:

In 2006 the package price for 7 nights’ accommodation, diving and flights came to only R 6500!
