DIVING Highlights:

MANTA REEF 

This is known as a showcase dive in Tofo. World famous for two massive manta cleaning stations. This reef holds an impressive biodiversity with an abundance of marine life. Manta reef is now considered a stepping stone for divers looking to take their first deep dive and have the opportunity to see manta’s in their cleaning stations.

mike’s cupboard

A dive site ideal for beginners and photographers looking to explore and take their perfect snap of nudibranchs, an array of tropical fish and large schools of flute and trumpet fish. Other species well known in this dive site are frog fish, leaf fish, greyspot guitar fish kuhl’s rays and crocodile fish.

sherwood forest

Sherwood Forest gets its name from the abundance of Green Tree Coral and is the main cleaning station. The combination of the coral and thousands of golden anthia, purple lyretail and cleaner wrasser fish makes this cleaning station a very colourful scene. You may also get a chance to see reef mantas, smalleye string rays eagle rays, huge flocks of mobula rays and if you’re lucky enough, a whale shark!

giant’s castle

Known as a “Tofo Scuba Favorite” because of the 6 metre tall wall expanding for 2 meters and inhabited by huge potato groupers and features several manta cleaning stations. Many types of game fish are also spotted at this dive site, such as Great Barracuda, Kingfish, Bowmouth Guitar sharks and various rays (Manta, Eagle, Devil, Blotched and Kuhl’s).

This dive site starts at an amazing drop with big green tree corals and stunning soft corals everywhere. There is a possibility to see numerous shark species such as Whitetip reef, Grey reef, Leopard and occasionally Hammerhead sharks. You can find Blotched Fintail rays, Jenkins rays and Pink Whitetip rays towards the end of the dive site. Leopard sharks and Loggerhead are green turtles are occasionally spotted in the caves.  

 

Language
Portuguese is the country’s official language, but it is only spoken by around half the population. English is also widely spoken.

 

Time Zone
Time in Mozambique is given by a single time zone, officially denoted as Central Africa Time (CAT; UTC+02:00).

 

Climate
Mozambique has a warm tropical climate. There are two main seasons – the wet season from October to March, and the dry season from April to September. Climate conditions vary depending on the altitude.

 

Water Temperature
The average water temperature is between 22 degrees Celsius to 27 degrees Celsius. 

Power Supply
In the City and in most tourist areas the South African standard 3 pin socket is used and the voltage is usually between 220 – 240 volts. 

 

Staying In Contact
The main mobile network in Mozambique is Mcel and South African provider Vodacom is also widespread. There is little internet coverage outside of Maputo, mostly available in tourist areas. 

 

What Payment Method Is Accepted
The official currency of Mozambique is the Metical (MT), divided into 100 Centavos. South African Rand (ZAR) and US Dollars (USD) are also widely accepted. Money can be exchanged at many banks and major resorts. Visa cards can be used but are not accepted everywhere. 

 

DIVING

  • Certification must be presented as well as a log book and dive insurance
  • Please be sure that your dive insurance is comprehensive & up to date before departing on your diving trip.
  • Always follow safe diving practices at all times.
  • Alcohol Consumption: If alcohol is consumed in between dives by an individual then they will be required to refrain from diving for the remainder of the day
  • Flying After Diving: A minimum surface interval of 18 hours must be allowed prior to flying or going to altitude
